Winter Window Tip: REMOVE THOSE SCREENS!

Why?

  • They are not used, since windows stay closed in the winter.
  • They block some of your view.
  • They block that sunlight that is so important in the long winter months.
  • Your windows will stay cleaner longer.  Interior screens trap dust because of forced air heat and exterior screens collect falling leaves, allergens and sometimes even snow, again impeding your view.

When you remove your screens, use a marker to write on the top of the frame,(where it will not be seen), a description of where screen belongs, such as "Master Bdrm 1".  Then store in the basement or garage until spring.  In the spring, only replace screens that are needed.  If you never open that window, why cover it up?!

Which window would you rather look through?
